Richard " Rick" Stanley Schaefer Jr.

Richard “Rick” Stanley Schaefer, Jr., 77, of New Freedom, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Born in Baltimore City, MD, he was the son of the late Richard Stanley Schaefer, Sr. and Dolores Helene ( Leaman) Schaefer.

Rick is survived by his wife Mildred "Millie" Jane (Dwyer) Schaefer; his son Matt Schaefer (Lisa) and daughter Tracy Beyer (Brian); six grandchildren Eli, Zoey, Madelyn, Caleb, Rose, and Nick; and sister Alane Schaefer.

Rick received his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a master's degree from Loyola College. He was employed with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Constellation Energy, and WR Grace. Rick enjoyed playing pickleball and tennis.

There will be a time of visitation on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA 17349.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; 315 N Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA 17349.
