Robert E. Heaps, 83, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015. He served the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert was Honorably Discharged from the army on September 15, 1954. He was 22 years old. He earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart in combat. He was granted the United Nations Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. After his military service, he retired from Kraft Foods (previously Sealtest Dairy) after 35 years. In his younger years, Robert was also a very proficient pitcher in fast pitch softball. Surviving him are his children, Karen Flowers, David and Scott Heaps, Robert (Alessandra) Heaps, and Kenneth Heaps and his wife, Sarah Cronin; former spouse, Peggy Fitzpatrick;12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Heaps. Public viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 21, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown 17363 and from 10 a.m. until a funeral service begins at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, at Norrisville United Methodist Church, 2811 W. Church Lane, White Hall, Md. 21161. Interment in the church cemetery.
