Roland Lee Calhoun

On Friday, June 23, 2017, Roland Lee Calhoun, Jr., 76, passed away at his residence. A public visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until a funeral service which begins at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. Interment will follow in New Freedom Cemetery, New Freedom. Roland was born August 15, 1940 to the late Anna (Graefe) and Roland L. Calhoun, Sr. Formerly of Jarrettsville, MD, he worked many jobs throughout his life including dairy farming, stock work, steel fabricating, surveying, crane operating, service jobs, and auto parts supply. He was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sweet Air, MD. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman. Surviving him are his sisters, Betty L. Mann and R. Jean Badders and husband, Howard; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, James Emmitt and Emily Calhoun.
