Ronald William Evans, 73, of New Freedom, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Philadelphia.

Born April 8, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, Ron was the son of the late Norman Gerald and Patricia Ann (Kerr) Evans. He was the loving husband to Penny Evans, whom he married on July 24th, 1976, and shared 49 years. Ron and Penny were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Ron graduated from Whitney Point High School in 1971. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1977. Following his time in the military, Ron earned an associate’s degree from Broome Community College, and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Binghamton in 1979.

He retired from the Legg Mason Management Firm in 2012. He was the owner and creator of the Jungle Gym Learn and Play Center in Shrewsbury and loved interacting with the families and community. Ron also coached his daughter’s softball team and his son’s baseball team when they were younger.

Ron loved his family and home. He could often be seen doing yard work, going for walks, and helping his neighbors.

In addition to his loving wife, Penny, Ron is survived by his daughter, Tracy Smith, his son Tyler Evans and daughter-in-law, Caitlin Conklin. Ron is also survived and loved by his wonderful grandchildren, Wesley, Timmy, Arlee, and Dottie. He will be missed by his brother, Jim, sister-in-law Debbie, and sister, Sheri. He is loved and missed by his sisters-in-law, Sheryl, Marilyn, and Kathy, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Following cremation, a visitation to celebrate Ron’s life will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349.

Ron’s family is so grateful for the wonderful care he received while he was a patient at U Penn Hospital ICU in Philadelphia. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Fund for Penn Medicine, online at www.pennmedicine.org.
