Samuel “Sammy” J. Heath, 76, of New Freedom, passed away at York Hospital on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Brenda J. (Bosley) Heath and was the son of the late Charles Reuben and Bessie Mae (Widener) Heath.

Samuel is survived by his son Travis S. Heath; niece Trish Ashley; sister Patty Simmons, best friend Eddy, and his beloved black labrador retriever, Nixie. He was preceded in death by his siblings Darlene Issenock and her two-week-old twin sister Arlene Heath, Sandy Garrett, Ruth Ann Heath and Charles R. Heath, Jr.

Samuel graduated from Hereford High School, Class of 1968. He enjoyed playing JV/Varsity Baseball. He worked for Green Bay Packaging Inc. in Hunt Valley and retired in 2002. He enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo and leading the worship music as an active member of Friendship Baptist Church in Stewartstown. He met and fell in love with his wife Brenda, over the years they supported each other dearly and to her, she was his biggest fan. Together they raised their son Travis, enjoyed traveling on cruises to Cancun & Bermuda, shared a love for family, music and his love for race cars, Chevelle cars, and his red truck. He also enjoyed cheering for the Baltimore Ravens.

Family & Friends are invited to a viewing on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Freeland, MD.
