Stanley E. Lonas

Stanley E. Lonas, 80, died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Catherine D. (Sergent) Lonas with whom he celebrated 53 years marriage on June 29, 2016. A celebration of Stanley's life will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown with the Rev. Melissa A. McDade officiating. Military rites will be offered by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Stanley was born January 5, 1937, in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio, a son of the late Sam and Ruth (Collins) Tubaugh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve and the U.S. Air Force. Stanley retired in 1997 from the Baltimore County Fire Department following 25 years employment as a firefighter and EMT. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and dearly loved his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Catherine, Stanley leaves three children, Michael J. Lonas and his wife, Bridgette of Glen Rock, Catherine A. Lonas of Frederick, Md. and Christian S. Lonas and his wife, Charbett of Glen Rock; six grandchildren; and a sister, RuthAnn McCloskey of Calif. Stanley was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Haley Kay Lonas; and a brother, Michael Wayne Lonas. In Stanley's memory, those who wish may make contributions to a favorite charity .
