Steven R. Lightner

Steven R. Lightner of Brogue passed away on July 6, 2026, at the age of 44. Born July 22, 1981, Steve lived a life defined by dedication, strength, and deep love for his family. Steve enjoyed being outside, working on something all the time, four wheeling, riding four-wheelers, hunting, and being involved in the community. Most of all spending time with his pup Daisy. He went on to serve his country honorably for many years in the military, demonstrating his commitment, courage, and sense of duty.

Steve was the beloved husband of Michael Sommer of Brogue and the cherished son of Robert and Connie Lightner of Airville. He is survived by his brother, Michael Lightner, husband of Vanessa Lightner of Dillsburg, along with their two sons Michael and

Gabriel. He is also survived by his children: Victoria Smith, wife of Jared Smith of York; Sierra Sommer of Windsor; and Kyle Bair, husband of Kamdyn Bair of Seven Valleys. Steve was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Addie, Timmy, Hazel, Chase, and Parker who brought him immense joy.

Steve is proceeded in death by his son, Eric Sommer.

Steve will be remembered by those who loved him as a devoted son, a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a caring uncle. He was known for being a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His caring nature, great sense of humor and his role as a protector will never be forgotten. Steve will be deeply missed and forever remembered by family and friends.
