Stewart D. "Buck" Bartenslager

Stewart D. “Buck” Bartenslager, 87, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at home. Born in Stewartstown on October 10, 1928, he was the devoted husband of Lillian (Hoover) Bartenslager, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage. Stewart was the son of the late Golden and Lucy (Dutton) Bartenslager. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 6-7 P.M. at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA, with a funeral service beginning at 7 P.M. The Rev. Scott Dale Shumaker will be officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Stewartstown Cemetery. Stewart was a gold-plating inspector with AMP for many years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Stewart enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, playing cards, and hunting. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Kim, wife of Chip Matterson, of Freeland, MD; and Lisa, wife of John Thorpe, of York; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
