Susan Crownover Hoffheins was born on March 17, 1943 to Margaret Sims and Lockwood Crownover in Burnham, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Chief Logan High School in 1961 and West Chester University in 1965 with a degree in Music Education.
She taught music in the Southern School system from 1965 until 1970.
She married Robert Hoffheins in 1970, and they moved to New York City. They both found work as finishers at a music printing company. They returned to York and joined Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Sue became the organist and choir director, where she served from 1976 until 2014 (and only missed one service in those 38 years!) She was a gifted musician and an excellent teacher. She was also the office manager for Hoffheins Piano Service, keeping the business running smoothly. She loved reading, doing the New York Times crosswords, crocheting, knitting, and Baltimore Orioles baseball. She was a loving wife, an excellent mother, and the unwavering support she gave her family was nothing short of inspiring.
Sue is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert, and two sons, Jason and David. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to your favorite cause.
