Vernon Leroy Hilse Sr.

Vernon Leroy Hilse, Sr., 90, of Parkton, MD., passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Born on September 1, 1934, in Parkton, MD to the late Erich and Mabel E. (Matthews) Hilse. He was the husband of the late Katharyn Patricia “Patty” Hilse who he loved dearly.

Alongside Patty, Vernon owned and operated Arden Farms and Arden Trucking. He loved to be on a tractor and working on his farm. He also enjoyed crabbing, fishing and listening to older country music.

Vernon is survived by his four children, Vernon Hilse Jr. (Donna), Cynthia Hilse, Jeffery A. Hilse (Allison) and Jennifer Blevins (Wade), he is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his 2 siblings, Russell and Wiliam Hilse.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA, 17349 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm followed by a memorial service starting at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
