Wayne Leroy McCulloch, 79, of Shrewsbury, passed away at York Hospital on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was the loving husband of Wanda (Baker) McCulloch and the devoted father of Emily McCulloch and Erin McCulloch-Nadolny. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, he was the son of the late Glenn and Marion (Pratt) McCulloch.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda; his children, Emily (husband Todd) and Erin (husband Jeff); his grandchildren, Devendra and Avry; and his sister, Glenda (husband Lance).
Wayne served in the United States Army as a Vietnamese linguist from October 1966 to October 1970. During his service, he fought in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class in October 1970. He later reenlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in Bryan, Texas, where he served from 1973 to 1975. Wayne received several awards for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Wayne graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Science in August 1973. He then received his Master of Science degree in Aquatic Toxicology from Texas A&M University in 1977.
After receiving his master’s degree, Wayne moved to Maryland, where he found his lifelong career at EA Engineering, Science and Technology and eventually became the manager of the toxicology laboratory.
Wayne loved the sport of golf, whether playing or watching. He also enjoyed following other sports, including tennis, football, and baseball.
Wayne’s love for his grandchildren was unconditional. He loved vacationing with his granddaughter, Devendra, and was excited to teach his grandson, Avry, how to play golf.
