William E Baer

William E. Baer, 72, of York, PA died Monday, August 7, 2017 at home. He was the husband of Carolyn C. “Chris" (Longerbeam) Baer, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage. Born in Sandy Hook, MD he was the son of the late Curtis Lee and Luella Mae (Norris) Baer. William retired in 2007 from The Arundel Corporation after 26 years where he was a heavy equipment operator. He attended Windsor Assembly of God for many years and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 37 in Baltimore. William enjoyed woodworking especially building bird houses and benches, spending time with friends at social events, an avid Orioles baseball fan, going to Shady Maple, eating shrimp and crabs and having fun telling his jokes. His family will greatly miss his laughter and his jokes. Surviving in addition to his wife Chris are two daughters Deborah Lynn wife of Daniel Hadel of Baltimore, MD and Michele Lee wife of Charles Hatle of Brogue, PA; five granddaughters Pamela, Melissa, Allison, Lindsay and Leah; two great-grandsons Christopher and Brodie; one sister Virginia wife of Gerald Hagan of Brunswick, MD and two brothers Bradley Baer husband of Monica of Charlestown, WV and Don Baer husband of Donna of Shepherdstown, WV and many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him dearly. William was preceded in death by a brother David Lee Baer in 2008. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1PM from the Windsor Assembly of God, 21 N. Penn St. Windsor, PA 17366. Interment will be held at the convenience of his family. A viewing will be held on Friday from 11AM until the time of the 1PM funeral service at the church. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. 19 S. Main St. Stewartstown, PA is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr. P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604 in his memory.
